68th Street Station
The 68th Street-Hunter College Station on New York City Transit's IRT 6-line underwent significant renovations to enhance accessibility and passenger flow. The project added three new elevators, expanded the control area, and modified platforms for ADA compliance. Additionally, two new entrances and control areas were created at 68th Street and within the Imperial House building, along with the reconfiguration of the existing street stair adjacent to CUNY's landmarked Thomas Hunter Hall.
Further improvements included a new station entrance on Lexington Avenue within the Imperial House, connecting to the northbound platform, and a new entrance stair at the southwest corner for the southbound platform, which required sidewalk widening. The renovations made all existing stairs ADA compliant, introduced new ADA boarding areas, and expanded platforms to accommodate new elevators. Comprehensive repairs to the station's infrastructure, such as walls, floors, beams, and ceilings, were also completed.
