Profile
Founded in 1964, by the late Lee Harris Pomeroy, the firm has a long history of working with New York City’s public spaces and public institutions. In conjunction with the city and state, we have worked at enhancing and preserving them. We understand that architecture is born out of the needs of a specific client and project and does not exist independently of that need until the work is accomplished. The firm’s vision of design is derived from applying the tenets of the modern movement to complex and sensitive sites and programs. We do not believe in the imposition of a “style”; and are as comfortable designing a building in a pristine or contemporary urban setting as in carefully restoring a rare historical building. Each project is treated individually, and we do not attempt to impose a preconceived style on the final design.
LHP Architects has been widely published and earned a number of design awards. We enjoy a continuing relationship with many of our long-time clients including the New York City Transit Authority, New York City School Construction Authority, and NYC Department of Correction. Other clients have included Swiss Bank Corporation, and Time Warner - Home Box Office. LHP Architects has restored, renovated, and designed additions to major historic landmarks such as New York’s Plaza Hotel, Trinity Church Grand Central Terminal, Saks Fifth Avenue, and St. James Church.
The firm’s international portfolio includes projects such as the Bin Hai International Convention Center in Tianjin, China; the Kolkata Metro Railway's new East-West Corridor, and the master plan for Skill City, a new community near Bangalore, India.
