Fulton Street Station
Originally designed by Heinze & Lafarge, the Fulton Street Subway Station is an NYC Landmark. Its restoration program brought the station’s polished white tiles and ornate terra-cotta panels, illustrating the Fulton Ferry Steamboat, back to their original condition. For this assignment, the firm collaborated with environmental artist Nancy Holt whose public art piece, entitled Astral Gratings, was incorporated into the station’s new ceiling system.
Services provided by LHP included an architectural design with a strong emphasis on restoring and preserving existing materials, exhibition design, circulation planning, upgrading of mechanical/electrical systems, and technical inspection for water damage and other structural problems.
