LHP is designing a new standalone Staff Facility for the NYC Department of Correction’s Halleck Street Facility, the Vernon C. Bain Center in the Bronx. It is a 15,000 square feet structure within the new FEMA 100-year flood plain regulations so it will be elevated as per those requirements and designed both architecturally and structurally for the combination of seismic and flood regulations. The building will also be designed as a LEED-certified structure to attain the silver rating as per NYC requirements for new publicly-funded buildings. The building will contain all staff facilities such as lockers, exercise room, lounges, and kitchen for the uniformed employees working at this facility and a limited amount of civilian facilities.
